Mahatma Gandhi 1869–1948
Mahatma Gandhi (1869 to 1948) wrote this in a letter to his nephew in 1930, during the Salt March campaign against British colonial rule. He had walked 240 miles to the sea to make salt illegally, and thousands had joined him, but he was writing about the daily work of spinning cotton and living simply, not the march itself.
