Malala Yousafzai – Fear

Teaching about a youth leader like Malala Yousafzai provides a great opportunity to really delve into the theme of fear, because even though many in Malala’s country do not believe girls should be educated, Malala stayed calm in the face of her fears. After she was harmed by extremists, she still fought for her own education and that of other girls. I would use the FDR conversation because Malala had very real dangers to fear, but she did not allow her mind to panic and set her back.
