Dan and Steve led educators at the College of DuPage through the Teach Different Method™ using a quote from Ella Fitzgerald about looking forward, not back. Teachers worked through the four moves (Claim, Counter-Claim, Storytelling and Essential Question), sharing stories about bootstrap thinking, inequity, and knowing a student's past while helping them move forward. Participants valued how the routine makes everyone consider both sides, and how it helps teachers see students for where they're going rather than where they've been.
I was a teacher for seven years long in my country… we developed website with problems for early education kids… it should help the teacher to involve those students in the education process.
I was thinking elementary in the beginning. Now I'm not sure, but I think I still have time. Maybe I'll give myself a year to learn and find out what I want.
I heard this all the time growing up is pull yourself up by the bootstraps. It was my father telling me… don't wait for somebody else to give you something. Like, do it for yourself.
It really spoke to me about almost like breaking cycles… giving yourself grace because it takes a while… having to think about the past so you can move forward.
