Teach Different was founded in the summer of 2017 by Steve and Dan Fouts, both veteran educators from the Chicagoland area. The mission of Teach Different is to bring philosophy to K-12 education. The company exists to give free-thinking teachers professional development on how to humanize teaching and pave the way for life-changing questions and discussions to motivate students to become more conscious of their existence and purpose in life.
Our instructors all have master’s degrees in their core teaching disciplines. We are constantly recruiting teachers from our student population.
Participants completing courses for graduate credit will earn up to 3 semester credits per course. Transcripts may be requested directly from affiliate university partners. Transcript processing may take up to 3 weeks. Teach Different courses may also be taken as a noncredit option. Participants will receive a certificate from Teach Different upon course completion documenting up to 45 professional development clock hours per course. Credits and clock hours are intended to meet professional development requirements for step advancement and renewal of teaching certificates. Always check with your district, state, and/or academic advisor prior to enrolling to determine if Teach Different course content, formats, credits, or hours are suitable for your intended purpose.
You will receive your grade within a week after the course is completed.
There are no additional fees for course materials. Official university transcripts for courses completed for graduate credit may be requested from our academic partners for a nominal fee
Teach Different automatically emails out invoice for each payment received. You can also call Teach Different to request one. Teach Different does not receive funding from the Department of Education’s student aid programs. You will not receive a 1098-T for Teach Different courses. Teach Different can provide a statement of tuition paid, which participants may be able to report as an expense on their tax forms. (Please consult with your tax advisor.)
Teach Different makes every effort to run all classes as scheduled. In the rare occassion that one of our course sessions has to be cancelled, you will be notified immediately and receive a 100% tuition refund.
Our academic partner accepts Teach Different courses for graduate credit to be applied towards advanced degrees on a case-by-case basis. Always check with your academic advisor to determine if Teach Different courses are eligible for inclusion or transfer into their program.
Participants are required to log in weekly; however, there are no synchronized meeting times. Online courses are designed to cover at least 45 hours of content. The lessons are paced throughout an 6-week period to provide guidance through the learning process.
Our courses are offered asychronously, meaning there are no synchronized meeting times. Students are expected to interact with the instructor and other students through discussion boards and, at times, live webinars. Online courses are accessible from inside North America. If you are outside of these regions, please contact support at (800) 897-6720 prior to enrolling. Participants should always check with their academic advisor, district and/or state for approval before enrolling to determine how graduate credits or professional development hours may be applied.
